Japanese calligraphy for intermediate learners with seal-engraving 篆刻. The Japanese language is written in combinations of both kanji (the ideographic script originating in China) and kana (the syllabic script developed in Japan). Through the study of Japanese calligraphy (shodo) and learning to write these characters with a brush, the participants' interests will not remain focused solely on shodo and Japanese writing traditions, but will expand to wider and deeper fields such as Japanese ways of thinking and Japanese unique aesthetic. This course is for students who have passed Calligraphy 1 course.
